Trani is an enchanting village overlooking the Adriatic Sea and dating back to the Norman era, when Frederick II of Swabia made it one of his main maritime fortresses. The town offers splendid natural scenery and monuments rich in art and history. Wonderful the tourist port dotted with typical fishing boats and dominated by the symbol of the town, the superb Cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino, built with the characteristic local stone and towering over the seascape. Also not to be missed is a visit to the Swabian Castle, dating back to 1230 and, together with the Cathedral, the strong point of the city, visible from the sea.
