Since the Umbertine era of the late 19th century, the neighborhood has retained its elegant and slightly austere architecture, today enlivened by ethnic shops and the market. Art lovers can choose between the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the church of San Pietro in Vincoli, the National Roman Museum and, on the Colle Oppio, the Domus Aurea. Going down Via Cavour you can easily reach the charming Monti neighborhood.
