The San Donato district is very large territorially and has various urban destinations: we find residential areas, areas intended for services and commerce such as the Fair and the fruit and vegetable market.
The apartment is located in
one of the main arteries of the city which, with a total length of 8 kilometers, retraces the previous walls of the fourteenth century externally, crossing the 13 access gates, of which today only 9 remain (as one was closed in 1445 and then be completely incorporated into a church, 2 were demolished in 1903 and one is completely within the path of the ancient wall compared to that of the current avenues).
These gates today constitute the main intersections of the avenues and the points where they stood today have the names in the Piazza di Porta format and the name of the gate, except for the squares of Porta Galliera and Lame, which respectively take the names of "Piazza XX Settembre" and "Piazza VII Novembre 1944".
